HI EVERYONE.
IM RON,ID LIKE TO START A NEW REPTILE SWAP IN HOUSTON ,TX.A REGULAR EVENT TWICE A MONTH ,LIKE LEE WATSONS REPTILE SWAP IN STREAMWOOD,ILL IF YOUVE EVER BEEN TO COLONEL SANDERS SWAP (LEE)
YOU KNOW WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT.
BUT I NEED INPUT AND RESPONCE ,I NEED TO KNOW IF I CAN GET INTEREST
OF BREEDERS,VENDERS,LOCALS IN THE TRADE AND IN THE STATE. I NEED TO KNOW IF WE COULD FILL ENOUGH TABLES TO MAKE THIS VISION WORTHWHILE. I HAVE THE FACILITY CAN HOLD APROX 100 4X8 TABLES INSIDE I WILL HAVE AMPLE PARKING IF I CLEAR OFF MORE OF THE PROPERTY,
I WOULD HAVE ENOUGH ELECTRIC FOR EVERY VENDOR. BUT CAN I GET ENOUGH OF YOU THROUGH THE DOOR TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN SO WE HAVE A LOCAL SPOT HERE IN HOUSTON TO HAVE A MONTHLY SHOW .AND SORRY SOME OF YOU WONT WANT TO HEAR THIS ,BUT AS I USED TO BE PARTNERS
WITH AN IMPORTER THIS SHOW AND SWAP WOULD N O T BE CAPTIVE BRED ONLY .ALL NON VENOMOUS VENDORS WOULD BE WELCOME.

One of my biggest problems with Herp shows (within recent years) is the over abundance of wild herps.

While im not against keeping or selling wild herps, it should be more carefully enforced at shows where many novice and new reptile keepers may be in attendence.
Its a bummer for a 12 year old kid who wants (insert animal type here) to go to a show and buy a amazon tree boa for 20 bucks (because thats all he could afford) to end up with an aggressive, potential problem feeder animal that may sour him/her to future herp purchases.

If your going to allow wild caught animals, it would be a responsible thing to carefully manage what is and isnt allowed for sale, and it would also be good to make the sellers more motivated to let potential buyers know that they are getting a wild collected animal, not a captive born one.
(not letting the buyer assume either way basically)
That could save lots of heartache for buyers, and lots of headache for sellers.


I used to go to lots of herp shows, and have only on a few occasions not been upset with what I have seen at tables selling import/wc animals.
