Yeah I know, and even with buying larger secure caging for many, those costs sound astronomical? Leave it to government though, home of the $3000 toilet seat*?! (*actually I can't recall the amount, probably more like $20,000?) And this even with sending some off to zoos? They need some serious 'how-to's'!?
I'm a little sympathetic though, if their taxes are anything like MN's? Gotta expect hostility from Joe/Jane taxpayer!

Really? You should be a zoo-keeper...? (that takes care of food & housing too, 'cause I'm sure you know they get expensive...)
Not that zoo-keeping pays all that well, it does have other rewards though...
(best paying is the Nat.l Zoo in D.C. 'cause it's a federal job, or at least it was when I volunteered there years ago; but then D.C. is expensive to live in/near too...)
What would be your first choice, if you could have anything? just outa curiousity...

Everyone listen in on the Thursday July 8th podcast of Pets&Vets with Dr. Marla Lichtenberger, who is one of the staff members at the 24 hour Animal ER Emergency Center that oversaw and cared for many of the animals confiscated from the Terry Cullen raid in Milwaukee WI.
Pets & Vets
You will quickly wonder why a veterinarian and veterinary clinic that clearly have so little qualifications and expertise in reptiles, let alone attempt to discuss them in any way, shape or form, was even put in charge of the confiscated animals. Listen in particular to the part where she talks about "hoarders".

Jesus....I just watched the video with the vet who went to check this bust out - she literally said that there were African dwarf alligators there.
This is a PROFESSIONAL. And people wonder why I keep to myself about my collection.

I'd never have imagined animals being "loaned out" from zoos for decades!!! And there are no doubt other cases just like this (with Cullen) waiting for exposure, getting horrible care meanwhile....this is a real wake-up call!
