Testing viability of burms surviving outside of Florida
Noticed this article today:
Pythons spreading across U.S. south? - Environment- msnbc.com
This "herpetologist Whit Gibbons" seems like a fear monger looking for some government funding to me, but it seems interesting.

Yeah, they're all 20 feet long and waiting in camo gear to gobble down a "small" human.

Re: Testing viability of burms surviving outside of Florida
Whit is actually a well reputed herpetologist and author of some of the best works on Southeast herps. I am reserving judgment. While there are things I don't think he should have said, I think this will be an interesting study.

In fairness, he may have been taken out of context, which is something I don't always thinK about when I read news reports, but should. I shouldn't assume he's got ulterior motives any more than I should assume I can get a fair balanced accurate report from a reporter! They gotta sell their stories so sensationalizing might be at play.
NO WAY BANANA! SENSATIONALIZED STORIES ABOUT GIANT SNAKES? NEVER!!!!
