I couldn't agree more, trust me.

but since this is a reptile site and we do include reptile related news, and many here keep burms or are thinking about it, I think its a relevant and sobering reminder of what the implications can be when a keeper isn't 100% aware of the potential problems keeping something like a Burm can be.

but I digress....

Here, here.
I'm sick of seeing little burms sold at pet stores all over, and uneducated impulsive people buying them with out a second thought. A burm is a ton of resposibility, and they deserve a lot more respect than the majority of people give them.

Hopefully at some point, natural selection laws will take over, and the Burms will start weeding out the morons one by one.

HAHAHAHAH!

one could only hope.. but its ultimately us and the burms that would pay the price.

They are cool snakes and can be great pets, in the RIGHT hands, there are lots of people who are great burm keepers, the other 85%........

and id say it was starting here, but in the end the snake payed the price for the owners ignorance! and everyone will be asking if the familys allright, but i bet no ones gonna question them over the state, or the miss treatment of the snake.

Re: more burms in the news

This is a very sad story and I really pity the poor animal involved. However, I think these posts can be important to potential burm owners, such as myself. I plan on getting a burm in the new year (as mentioned in another thread) and although these horror stories do upset me, it is a reminder that these are VERY dangerous animals and nothing to be taken lightly. Thanks Telefrag for the post.

I agree. Why even report on that? I could see a little blurb in a newspaper, but a TV report? Seriously.

Poor snake.

Poor snake.
Sadly, the media plays off of subjects that will get a lot of attention. "Man Eating Snakes" probably get more attention than "big foot" sightings. It's sickening to me to see that they were keeping that large (by my standards) burm in a tank the same size I keep my bp! The hide box was a joke, the water dish was inadequate (like mentioned before) and it did look way to thin for it's size. I wish there was a T.V show for people who mis treat their snake like there are plenty of shows for those who abuse other animals. Oh, but that's right... mamals are a different story. EVERYONE LOVES, CUDLY MAMALS. I appreciate all types of wildlife, but the stereotypes for snakes just makes me sick. My bp has been one of the greatest pets I've ever had. There just has to be a better way to educate the public.
