Re: Shop Owner Saved From Python Attack
The hobby doesn't need press like this. At least the shop owner is ok.

Re: Shop Owner Saved From Python Attack
The snake was only on her arm and she was yelling bloody murder. They way the make it sound was like it was around her neck about to kill her. Not to down play the situation anytime a constrictor is squeezing you it is dangerous but it was not life or death at that time. As the officer proved when he simply removed the snake and put it back it its tank. Im glad they did not kill the animal. You always here when animals attack that they are killed this burm is one of the lucky ones.

Re: Shop Owner Saved From Python Attack
Oh looky looky!
A BURMESE PYTHON in a WIRE MESH cage!
So, humidity is too low, the snake is stressed. The heat light is on the side of the cage(not like it'd be doing any good anyway) so the snake is also too cold.
I'm betting respiratory infection, combined with the smell of other animals permeating the snake's enclosure, the constant buzz of activity, and a little love tap on his "keeper's" hand.
She over reacted to the situation, obviously didn't know bite-safety protocol, she obviously isn't a snake person...
Ineptitude is what's ruining this hobby.
It makes me sick.
I wish someone could go and rescue that snake and shut her down. It's her own fault. Her own stupid fault, and now everyone that was in the shop at the time, and everyone that saw that news broadcast, thinks that much less of snakes because of her.
Had it been me in that situation things would have turned out so differently, and it never would have involved the police, or the news, and it would have started with proper husbandry.
I hate hearing about stuff like this...

Re: Shop Owner Saved From Python Attack
The sad part about it, she forgot to wash her hands after handling a rat earlier that day.
Kasmack to the owner.

Re: Shop Owner Saved From Python Attack
Well, the lady's common sense may be lacking, but I did read an article about this earlier saying that the officer came in with a knife, and she told him not to kill the snake. Of course if she had been practicing safe handling and had better husbandry it likely would never have happened anyway...but at least the snake lived.
