Painter discovers python at apartment complex
By Amy Sowder

Originally posted on August 22, 2007
An apartment complex painter spotted a 9-foot green Burmese python crawling along the bottom of the wall bordering the parking lot this morning while doing his daily rounds.
Skip Guida, a painter for Beach Club and Viridian Lake apartments on Winkler Avenue Extension east of Metro Parkway in Fort Myers, found the 60-pound snake at about 8 a.m.
“Two ducks were standing right next to it, and they were, like, mesmerized. They weren’t moving away. They were like hypnotized,” said Guida.
Guida called the complex’s front office, where officials then called Animal Control.
Two trappers from Scott’s Animal Service arrived and transported the snake.
Guida said he hasn’t seen any animal this big or exotic since 1994, when a diamondback snake was found at a complex nearby.

Re: Painter discovers python at apartment complex
Nice looking snake. I hope they find it a home. Looks tame enough.

Re: Painter discovers python at apartment complex
I'm happy to hear a nice story like this for a change. Normally it's the worst thing in the world when a snake like this is found, but everyone was very nice about it and even posed with it and didn't turn it into a close encounter with a monster or something.
