family finds copperhead outside home

I found this on some local news site. I thought it was kind of scary that there would be a news article written about decapitating a snake. In my opinion, it only increases fear of these animals and makes it harder for the rest of us to educate them.

Quote:
BRIDGEPORT, Ohio -- A city couple had quite a shock when they stepped outside Tuesday morning.

They found a copperhead snake slithering its way up their drain pipe.

The Belmont County Sheriff's Department sent two deputies to decapitate the snake.

Police figure the snake was probably headed for a bird's nest that was at the top of the drainpipe.

I'd decapitate those cops if I got the chance. Killing a snake that is minding his own business. Maybe we should build an ark take all of the snakes from these towns and let all of the people that hate them stay there. Lets watch them get eaten alive by the rats and mice that over run their town in a couple years. Some ignorant people just need to fall in a hole somewhere. GRRRRR I'm done ranting for now

Re: family finds copperhead outside home

That's horrible! The last thing I would ever do is have a snake killed..! It's bad enough people make the assumption that my ball pythons are dangerous, poisonous killers that'll sooner strangle me, than look at me. *headdesk*

There definetely needs to be more herp-rescue people around.. I'd definetely get into it if there was a call for someone like that around here, but the only snakes we get in my area are harmless little garter snakes.
