Teen Threatens Police With Snake

Australia - Northern Territory police say a teenager threatened two officers with a live snake when they pulled him over for an alcohol breath test.
The 17-year-old was driving a four-wheel drive when he was stopped at midnight ACST on Saturday in Darwin.
The teenager was breath tested, and police say he allegedly blew 0.131.
Police say the boy was then being questioned when he spotted a snake on the road. Seizing the opportunity, he snatched the reptile and pointed its head at the officers. Police told the teenager to drop it, but they say he instead took off into some nearby scrub with the snake still in hand.
The boy will be summonsed to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court at a later date on charges of drink-driving and driving while unlicensed.
Police say they do not know what happened to the snake.

Oh yeah, run away AFTER you give them your lisence and then leave your car. Not much gray area on that sobriety test.

This is one of the reasons that I laugh at the commercials that end with "Drink Responsibly." If there's one thing alcohol helps you do is make responsible decisions. The more you drink, the more responsible you get. Your judgment improves with every drink. Then you shake a snake at the cops and run off into the brush leaving your ID behind.  |

I know an idiot that got out of a DUI because of a snake. They went herping and then to a bar and had a Canebrake in a cooler. When they got pulled over for weaving, the cop asked what was in the cooler. When they said "Rattlesnake", he didn't believe them and pulled them out of the car, put the cooler in front of his cruiser and proceeded to open it. The officer was surprised and said a few explicit things very loudly. The snake started to crawl out of the open cooler so this guy just went to the car, got a snake hook and put the Canebrake back in the cooler. I think the last thing the cop said before he sped away was "If you can do THAT, you can drive home!" Idiot could have died in several ways that night or killed someone else and the cop let him go because of fear of snakes. What a world.

I'm not surprised really, but it is pretty pathetic.
The guy is lucky the officer was NOT bitten, and lucky that he was let go..Unfortunately, I doubt he learned a lesson about drinking and driving.
