Boy Recovering From Snake Bite In Charlotte Hospital
Boy Recovering From Snake Bite In Charlotte Hospital
11:28 pm EDT July 26, 2006
WSOC-TV
Mecklenburg County -- Kenny Taylor was walking through Belle Johnston Park in Pineville Monday when a copperhead snake slithered onto his friend's shoe. His friend kicked the snake into a bush. When the two walked by the bush again, the snake popped out, biting Taylor. "He pulled his head out and his fangs got into the back of my hand. I flung him off and jumped on him and crushed his jaw. I think some of the venom came out," Taylor told us. We asked him to explain the pain he felt. "It [felt] like my arm was broken. When you get bit, it starts burning."
After medics rushed Kenny to the hospital, his friend's father went back and got the dead snake so doctors would know what anti-venom Kenny needed.

Re: Boy Recovering From Snake Bite In Charlotte Hospital
hmmm. The part about 'medics rushing him to the hospital' sounds wrong, I know for sure that my parents took him. The rest sounds right, though.

Re: Boy Recovering From Snake Bite In Charlotte Hospital
Well, I'm sorry if that makes you mad, but it couldn't be helped. I can think of some very good reasons for killing it, too. First off, he was in a group of kids from our neighborhood. If he had simply let it live, who's to say it wouldn't have tried to take a shot at them again? Second, it is a public woods, with trails and everything where people go walk their dogs and exercise and such, it could have also tried to bite them. He didn't know a lot about snakes, so he couldn't tell what kind it was. If he hadn't killed it, it probably would have scurried off, and we wouldn't have it to find out what kind of anti-venom he needed.

Hey, let me point something out to ya....
First you say he is a stupid moron for going back there right? Then you defend the killing of the snake by saying he is protecting all the kids and dogs and people who go about this public area. So if the area is so public why is he a stupid moron for going back there?
Sounds to me like the pot is calling the kettle black. Why don't we just leave this thread in the dead zone of a two year old post where it belongs.

Awww, but then we'd have no drama!!!
On a serious note, the kids should have talked to a parent and the parent should have called animal control....they remove/relocate animals from parks too.
