white alligator

What does everyone think of this? Should they be punished for capturing the gator?

It depends on whether they really did it for the good of the animal, or they just wanted to make money out of him. Only they know that for sure.

Indeed. I remember a story that Steve Erwin did in regards to rescuing a huge (about 12-14 feet) white salt-water croc that had been poorly kept in a small zoo in Austrailia. Obviously, as the men said, being white is a hazard in the wild. But then with the Florida law they're interfering. Who really knows.

They are not in Florida, they are in South Carolina. Just thought you may have missed that.
One strange thing in the article is that they said:

"The Clamp brothers, owners of Edisto Island Serpentarium near Edisto Beach, say they were trying to save the alligator and two white siblings when they captured them soon after they hatched in 2003. The other two gators died; the survivor is now nearly 2 feet long."

And then later in the article they say:

"A state natural resources officer then seized the three animals a few weeks later."

So who was in possession of the alligators when the 2 died? I don't get it.

The whole thing is stupid. If left in the wild they would probalby not have survived in the first place and now that it has been raised for this long in captivity it will be harder to intoduce it back into the wild because I will have little to no fear of humans and will probably end up as some rednecks belt or tacked on the wall. It will be interesting to see how this one pans out.

i think the state natural resource officer had them cause it says he took all three, but then again, the order in which this story is told, its hard to say for sure.
