oregon now
Medford, OR, is now debating legislation on exotics after a gator escape. The 3.5 foot alligator was caught 3 days after its escape and returned to the owner. Medford mayor now thinking its time for proper legislation (gator owner also houses 5 snakes including 12' burmese)
http://www.mailtribune.com/archive/2...es/03local.htm
City council minutes in regards to this possible legislation is not yet available online
http://www.ci.medford.or.us/Agendas.asp
Also
Oregon House Bill 3046 and Senate Bill 661
http://www.leg.state.or.us/05reg/mea...046.intro.html
http://www.leg.state.or.us/05reg/mea...661.intro.html
these bills seek mainly to add:
(f) Crocodile, alligator or caiman; and
(g) Member of the reptile family Viperidae.
as definitions of "exotic animals" banned by the state of oregon
Both bills have seemed to have stalled. No hearings have been scheduled

fortunately there hasnt been any problems with exotic animals in ohio. There is one man tho that had a cobra and some rattlesnakes stolen from his house. I dont think animals should be banned if they are in the right hands then there isnt really a problem

well the states that the ban has came into action lets you keep the snakes you already have. but they want the snakes to be fixed. that would be a death sentence to the snakes since vets have never done that befor. it is a lose lose situation.
