Dinosaurs find permanent home at Queen Vic

A permanent collection of dinosaurs can now be found at the Queen Victoria Museum in Launceston, Tasmania.
The exhibition is about the two major events that led to the extinction of all dinosaurs and the loss of 90 per cent of all plants and animals more than 250 million years ago.
The museum's director, Chris Castle, says the exhibition is drawn from the museum's own collections and it is quite rare for a regional museum to have a collection of this size.
"The largest dinosaur is...closely related to Tyrannosaurus Rex, so that stands two to three metres high at the shoulders and it's got a fairly fearsome skull with very large teeth in it," he said.
"Then there are a lot more of the fleet-footed animals and some of the heavily armoured dinosaurs and then there are some of the large carnivorous mammal-like reptiles."
