Report on my meeting with Senator McConnell

My meeting was very promising.

Today I met with a man named Larry Cox who is the State Director for Senator McConnell. Very early in the meeting, he stated that their office is practically always opposed to HSUS and their agenda.

He was mildly dismissive of the bill stating that it is "Going Nowhere Fast" due to having very little support. He suggested that this and a wide variety of other "small" bills will most likely not see the light of day until Healthcare and "Cap and Trade" is sorted out, but that once those issues are resolved, we can expect to see tons of environmental bills.

He was very impressed with my presentation and I was able to dispel a few deep seated myths that he shares with practically every non-reptile keeper. The result of the meeting is he is going to report to the Senator and to the rest of the staff his suggestion of strong opposition to this bill.

On a personal note, he was very easy to talk to and seemed to genuinely care about the Commonwealth of Kentucky and her citizens. I left feeling like we can count on Senator McConnell as a strong ally.
