Marlowe (???? - Dec. 22, 2003)

This morning I got up like normal and checked to make sure all the snakes were okay before I left to go to work. I checked Marlowe's cage to make sure he had eaten. He hadn't, so I carefully opened the cage and got out the rat. Marlowe didn't move. I disposed of the rat and went back in to check on him. I took him out and he was limp...

I must have cried for a long time. I don't remember when I got back up off my knees.

Marlowe survived the awful pet store he was purchased from, 2 near-death escapes, countless vet visits, internal parasites, and multiple mouth infections. I took him to the vet just last week. She said he was healthier than he'd ever been. He had been growing and doing fine until this morning.

There was no sign of IBD. All of the other snakes are healthy. I have no idea what happened.

May he rest...
