Pardon my ignorance, Matt, but who was Roger?

One of the most prominent herpetologists of the last 100 years.
Has a milk snake named after him, L.t.conanti , he also wrote and contributed to numerous field guides of US animals.
If you have a field guide to snakes of virgina, or any of the numerous peterson field guides, his name will likely be on it.
He also did lots of work with the Akistrodon genus, did a nice monograph on them.
Was writing books until not very long ago, he was 94.

I highly recommend his published works.
He was a balanced and eloquent writer, only Harry Greene can compare (when it comes to biology related books)

DOH, cause I rarely think of cottons.
Only think of them when I almost step on them....
But we have leucostoma, not conanti.

First book on the herp shelf is "A field Guide to the Life and Times of Roger Conant". A great loss, but great contributions over a long life.
