i havent been on much because my internet at home is down, then when i came back on, my account is being evil so i can't log in. i'm _sam_ in case you didnt guess.
I come now bearing sad news, my male leopard gecko, Leonard, died yesterday. I woke up and found that he wasnt moving in his tank. I am almost positive that he was just old, because he didn't seem to have any noticable health issues that would have caused such a sudden death.
When I was a freshman in high school, Leonard (not his name at the time) was the class pet in my Biology class. My teacher liked him, but at the same time, didn't seem to pay him much attention. Come summer time, She asked me if i wanted to take him home over break because she knew i already had one leopard gecko, so naturally I agreed. He went back to her class at the end of the summer, but at the end of my sophomore year, she approached me and said "sooo.... Sam, you like the gecko, right?" And she asked if i'd be interested in keeping him. Again, naturally, I said of course! He's been with me ever since. He was mine for 4+ years, and he was such a great gecko. Since he was already 9 when i got him, that means he was over 13, edging on 14 this year. About 6 months back he had some eating issues and lost some weight but had since started eating again and gained the weight back. I had took him outside the other day to get some sun and he really seemed to like it, he walked in the grass (of course I was very closely supervising) and enjoyed his half-hour outside. He was eating fine the last few days, and was taking crickets as well as a few silkworms with no issues... When I found him, he didnt look like he should have died. He didnt have any signs of a sick gecko, he was good weight and looked healthy. so i cant think of anything else that would have caused this.
So yeah, I just thought I'd let you all know. I really liked this little guy, he was such a good gecko. Always super chill and easy to handle, never, ever gave me any problems.
Here are the last pictures I ever took of him, from the day he had outside, they aren't the best photos, but you can tell he didnt look sick or anything:
and these are just a few of my favorites of him:
