UGH... Pulled the male carpet python out the other day for a feeding and cage change. He didn't eat and was on the thinned side..arghh. He wasn't like that a couple weeks ago when I left. AND Since he eats every two weeks usually, I didn't have my husband feed him while I was gone either. This is the carpet that I got in rescue about last January sometime btw. We fully rehabbed him and all... he was feding np for us also and gained enough weight that his weight was of no concern also now/lately. he was in really bad shape when we took him in , BUT was a great snake to deal with personality-wise. never thought I would actually like a carpet in my collection even till I got him.
Weeel after awhile he hadn't fed, so i went to put him back into his enclosure and found
mites on him...arghhh. This is
REALLY a PITA as he has been in with the female recently. [ She's a beech most of the time, her name is Bi%%^ even]. So I treated their cage and then also went and started treating them starting with soaking after I dropped Chris off back home [ He has been coming over quite often and helping a great deal with our herps. Really appreciate it btw Chris !]. After a soak and check over of the two of them [ the female ate and has no other problem btw also healthwise] I put em back into their cage [ which was treated with sawyers on the sub etc and left for about 5 hours before the snakes were placed into it after spraying down].
Well the next day I found the male dead
The female is fine though, BUt what a fiasco dealing with her in treating
mites though..UGH
