What I am sharing here is difficult for me to do. Rolento and I have cared for a beautiful CA King together for some time. Rolento rescued him from a family that allowed his food to scar him. He had a wonderful life with us and was well loved. Lazarus was our buddy. He would entertain me during long hours of homework. He would crawl all over the two of us on the couch. He was responsible for the love I now have for herps. He is what broke me of my fear of snakes. A few weeks ago he was being taken out of his enclosure to be fed. His enclosure is near a small window. While taking him out I had to untangle him from his branches. While doing so he wandered behind the blinds. Before I could get him out he had moved what was holding the window up and it came down on him. As much as I tell myself that I did all I could, I can't help but feel as if I failed him. I never imagined that my heart could feel so empty without him. I had not realize that I loved him this much until now. Rolento and I are heart broken from losing him. We have wept and mourned the death of our friend Lazarus and yet we still smile every time we think of him. It is hard not to, for he was such a pleasant and crazy creature. So as we honor our buddy Spazarus here we ask that you please pay careful attention to what surrounds your herp enclosures and beware that they can get themselves into sticky situations no matter how trained and attentive you are.
Goobye dear Lazarus...goodbye.
Rolento has made an awesome pic in memory of our buddy

How absolutly dreadful for you!!! I know it hurts so much to lose a friend in such an unexpected and tragic way. It's hard enough when they are old and sickly, but this, this is heartwrenching! Brings back memories of loosing a dear pet/friend in his prime in an accident. Three years later, it still hurts. If you need a shoulder, I am here, and I understand. Try to only remember the good stuff, in time the bad will fade away, let the good memories make you smile and I hope they help your heart to heal. My deepest heartfelt sympthies to you.
