My, how fast they grow
Here's a feeding pic of one of my '03 het piebald ball pythons. Before anyone chimes in, ingestion of substrate wasn't really a concern, as the rat was blown dry after thawing, and the feeding was monitored. These balls are nothing short of pampered.

LOL Eddie. Nope, I couldn't see spending $3K on some overpriced normals with forged paperwork. It kills me to see how many people got swindled by that guy.
These are the real deal, purchased straight from Mark & Kim Bell. Kim and I picked through a few unrelated clutches to come up with this pair.

Primarily> The other, not so important, purpose is to warm the rat up a bit after it's been blotted dry. For the most part, though, it's to keep substrate from sticking to a wet rodent. The size of my collection makes feeding in a different enclosure somewhat impractical, so I had to find an alternative method of keeping them from ingesting substrate. I'm not worried about impaction so much as I'm concerned about a sliver tearing the snake's GI tract.
In most cases, I keep neonates on newpaper or paper towel. I should've known better, but I learned the hard way that a pinky's body mass is no match for a blow dryer. Those little buggers roll pretty far!
