U.S. Marine and Philippine Marines skin a python for food during jungle survival training in the on going joint military exercise dubbed "Balikatan 02-2" at Ternate, Cavite province south of Manila Thursday April 25, 2002. More than 5,000 U.S. troops are now in the Philippines for the exercise which is aimed at Washington's biggest ally in Southeast Asia dealing with global terrorism. (AP Photo/Bullit Marquez)

OMG! Please, please tell me the snake was humanely dispatched before being skinned. I guess our soldiers need to eat, but oh, how sad.
(kind of neat muscular study, though)

I was originally not going to touch this but, this has got to be one of the poorest excuses for machismo i've ever seen in my life.
<TABLE BORDER=0 ALIGN=CENTER WIDTH=85%><TR><TD><font class="pn-sub">Quote:</font><HR></TD></TR><TR><TD><FONT class="pn-sub"><BLOCKQUOTE> I guess our soldiers need to eat, </BLOCKQUOTE></FONT></TD></TR><TR><TD><HR></TD></TR></TABLE>
It's called a mess hall, MRE's, etc.
They call this a survivalist exercise, but I hardly see why my tax dollars should go to senseless wildlife slaughter when there are equally valid training exercises that could be implemented without actually killing the animal.
This is shear machismo. Nothing else.
Entropy,
Alex

While feasting on the napalmed char-broiled skin of indigenous peoples, dipped in third world oil.

This is the biggest bunch of BS I've ever seen!!!!! I'm a Marine and I KNOW this isn't the survival training we get. I will say that to me this looks like the phillipine troops training us on there methods of survival because impermantrage is right! We do have MRE's and we do have mess halls. This isn't something I've ever been trained in but than again I'm smarter than the average grunt or infantrymen to others. We call them grunts because they go through it all. Just out of curiosity where was this pic found??????????????????? I'd love to look into it a lil more. I honestly hope they killed it first!! I apologize.
