Mountain Lake Hotel and BISCUITVILLE!!

My wife and I spent an ugly weekend in Pembroke, VA at the Mountain Lake Hotel. Mountain Lake Hotel is where they filmed some of the movie "Dirty Dancing" (The place was not nearly as cheesy as the movie would make it seem [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif[/img] ) No TV's in the rooms and a long way from civilization made for a very nice secluded weekend.
It was foggy and rainy the entire time so we didn't get in any herping... oh well... we had fun anyways.

Only in the south could a chain of restaurants specializing in biscuits be founded and actually survive! Of course we had to stop in to check it out.... and sure enough all biscuits, only biscuits. [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif[/img]

Great looking place! By the title, I thought someone had visited Montgomery....we have a new double A ball club named....of all things......the biscuits....

As if the south doesn't get joked on enough.

John it is further out than Smith Mountain Lake from what I recall.
You go out Route 460 about 15 miles west of Blacksburg, turn right on Route 700, then follow Rte 700 for 8 miles straight up the mountain. It is all the way up a the top of the mountain all by itself. Associated with the hotel is the Mountain Lake Wildlife Conservancy.

We had a Biscuitville in Raleigh when I lived there that was pretty good. [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif[/img]
