Re: San Antonio Zoo DUW!!!!!!!
Yeah, they were pretty awesome to watch. I believe they had them in two seperate displays also. Some in a creek type display and a few more in a marshy area. They actually would come right up to the edge and stare at you. Pretty cool

Re: San Antonio Zoo DUW!!!!!!!
Cool zoo, nice herp collection. Must be one of the few zoos with spotted hyenas. They have Aruba Island rattlesnakes so it goes on my list of must see zoos.

Re: San Antonio Zoo DUW!!!!!!!
Yeah, the retic had a bigger room than my bedroom. It was fairly dim and I was tired. I think he was the last photo of the day, equaling bad pic. I wish he would have been closer. He is huge though.

Fort Worth Zoo has some. Very cool animals.
I haven't been to the San Antonio Zoo in forever. I used to love going there as a kid.
I guess it's time to take a quick trip down I35. I might even stop at the snake farm on the way...
Looks like you had a great time 96. Thanks for sharing.

Ah yes, the snake farm. Pretty cool place. I haven't been there in a few years. I think they did a feature on that place on Dirty Jobs.

Re: San Antonio Zoo DUW!!!!!!!
The eyelash viper would not let me get his pic. I was upset. He would move his body around but never show his face.

Re: San Antonio Zoo DUW!!!!!!!
Thanks for posting all that.. I spent a lot of time there 'back in the day' .. first when I was a kid and later after I got to know Joe Laszlo, the famous reptile guy.. they used to have a top-notch reptile department.. and were doing cutting-edge stuff breeding exotics.. still looks nice from your photos.
.
Your pictures really take me back and make me want to go again.

I understand that it's under new ownership, and that they really care about husbandry.

Re: San Antonio Zoo DUW!!!!!!!
Great pictures! Thanks for sharing those.
My favorite non-reptiles of the bunch: brown bear, bald eagle, and rhino.
My favorite reptile of the bunch: king cobra ( they have the coolest faces of any snake, in my opinion).
That African rock python looked pretty large. Do you know was size it was?
