Sandy - Here's the other thread that it seems like no one is really looking at...
Red Group Father
He is the male that has bred the female in the pictures here. She was only with this male so he is definitely the father of her litter. As you can see he is just as nice as she is but a darker red...so just imagaine the babies they'll have!
The yellow phase father that you saw pictures of on our websites as well as the very pink female are both breeding again this year as well. I don't believe they have been bred to each other again but I'm not positive (one of the owners does all the pairings). Like I said, I believe we have four pairs of Red Groups that have been breeding for us this year and I believe all the females are currently gravid.
These Red Group Boas have been line bred by us for quite a while. We started working with them about 10 years ago...so I am told. We have just recently began mixing different
morphs into them starting with the Red Group x
Hypo breeding that we did last year. There are two basic bloodlines in our Red Group Boas, very red/pink animals and very yellow animals.
Most of our holdback boas were not intentionally held back but rather just babies that were left over that no one wanted. As babies, they all look pretty much the same. Some of them will have amazing coloration right off the bat about a month after being born but many of them will look like regular old Colombian Boas. These were mainly the ones that were left over that you see as part of our breeding stock now.
The Red Group Boas gain coloration as they grow and look their best when they are juveniles and adults. Like the female pictured here, she was one of the last ones we had left. Every year, we are generally left with the babies that just haven't started to show color yet. Most of these babies have very clean patterns but just aren't super red or yellow yet. Well after having them for sale for 5 or 6 months with no takers, we started to see the color come out in them and discovered that these guys actually really color up as they grow.
So that's just a little Red Group history
