Here are the two Morti and I brought home. The little one we caught first and it didn't strike at all. The big one was quite the demon, LOL It struck at us like mad! Luckily, neither one of us got bitten.
Both:
Big one:
Little one:

Ahh, that's a little better. They look more like northerns in that picture. Give us some sizes, and be prepared to change that water A LOT! They love to crap in the waterbowl
If I had to guess, I'd say they were little squirts, less than 24". And get them dewormed, they're probably loaded with parasites from eating frogs.

Josh, We went herping at Brown Park right over here next to our apartment.
Jonnyb/holligirl/whoever you are today, Thanks for that! Herping is fun!
J, the smaller one is an itty bitty thing at about 1.5 - 2 ft and about as big around as my pinky finger. The larger one is probably 2.5 ft or so and about as big around as a standard hosepipe. I suspect that she is a female. There are always piles of these snakes in groups all the way up and down the creek. They are easy to find, but hard to catch.
I don't know what are long term plans are for keeping these individuals... we are setting minnow traps out where we got them to try and get some fish that they might be interested in. If I knew for a fact that we were going to try to keep them as captives, I would definately get them wormed... since I am probably going to release them pretty soon, I don't think I need to worry about that... But your advice would be appriciated.
Have fun all!
-Morti.

Yep, sounds like a male for sure. Compare the tail lengths.

I agree, females get monstrous compared to males.
Enjoy them while you can, they have great personality IMO.

Captainmorgan.....
Here is one site that has a listing of NH herps, but it doesn't give info just the list of the most common.
My site has them too, but I do not have NH completed at this time.

We took them back to the places we caught them on Saturday. We may go out and try to capture/keep another couple some other time...
