Can someone id this snake Please?

My friend caught this snake and brought it to me askin what it was, im guessing some kind of water snake. he said it was in his pool and when he went to get it with the net it swam all the way to the bottom. It doesnt have a temper and hasnt even snaped at me. Please help me identify. Thanks







Thanks, i feel like such an idiot asking what it is. I checked the mouth and didnt see any fangs but i aint playing with it until i know for sure what it is.

Banded water snake...nice looking fella. I had thought that most water snakes had nasty dispositions, he may be the exception [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif[/img]

Thanks, i was leaning twoard banded watersnake. I was just making sure though. If i can get him to eat i will probly keep him, if not, he will be free again.
