This was a result of a trip to the mail box (100 yds from the house) today......
There was not a single child in site when I headed off to the mail box.
The trip resulted in a half hour talk with all the kids on reptiles in general and lead to showing off the other boas and some pythons today It was fun and the kids likes it

awesome...it's good to see that some people will actually take the time out to do stuff like this with kids. It was not until a few months ago that I got over my fear of snakes. I've been scared to death of them since I was a child, i'm now almost 20. If it wasn't for storm, ldydrgn and morti i'd probably still be scared. I'm sure you taught those kids a very good lesson stormyva

In my neighborhood I think the kids hide out up the street and wait for me to bring my snakes out. Then they act like they are just happening by.
Now that you have most of the kids learning good things, maybe you can get thier parents to come learn a little also.

I actually had a ferw parents yesterday... I was surprised becuase one of the mothers came rushing over when she saw an evil snake. But then listened to me for a minute and even came up and touched it. Of course the frist words out of her mouth were "Oh, I thought snakes were all mean and slimy" This was a Mother.... in her 30's!

Stormy, how could you subject those kids to such an evil creature!!! j/k That's very cool...and looks like you had a captive audience. I'm still trying to get my landlady to even look at my snakes! She doesn't mind I have them, as long as she doesn't have to see them! She does have a fastenation with the fact that both my wife and I enjoy serpents...so one of these days!!! Nothing quite as satisfying for me as making converts to the natural world!

Hahahaha Yah looks familiar doesn't it Barry? This one time....at Barry's house...I stuck a....no wait...that's a different story. Any way...walked out side with some new snakes I bought at the reptile show in raleigh ....streets were deserted....then all of a sudden you hear a small voice...SNAKE! and then bikes started being flung all across the yard as the kids swarmed us. Check out the little girl covering her eyes lol

i know EXACTLY how you feel. Everytime i go to the local petstore i bring along my ball python, and every time he creates a huge crowd. I am always bombarded with ?'s on snake myths and it feels good to let people know the true facts on snakes. And the best comments are, " I never thought I'd touch a snake let alone hold one!!" Its great to educate and help people overcome their fears.
