I know it's not snake related, but I just had to post some pics because he's so darn cute! Tuesday night I come home from work at close to midnight and my husband comes to greet me at the car with this little package. The funny thing is, he's smaller than the rats I had just fed to some of my biguns!! ...lol

Check out those BLUE eyes!!

Judging by his size, he has teeth and will eat solid food, I'm guessing he's about 6 weeks old.

One last pic, snoozing

I've actually worked with rescueing kittens much more than with reptiles, and considering my guess at his age, his eyes are really blue! Almost all kittens are born with blue eyes, but usually they aren't so bright, especially at this age. Sooooo, I hope they stay blue. I've always wanted a black cat with blue eyes. BTW, we looked, and he doesn't belong to anyone that we can find. Also, judging by his behavior, it seems he's a wild born kitten (he spat and hissed at us the first couple of days....lol)

Was your white cat deaf? I'm just asking because when I was younger, we had two pure white cats at different times, and both of them were deaf. I was just wondering if it was a coincidence, or if there is some significance to it. Does anyone know or ever hear anything of this?

We haven't decided for sure on a name yet, but we are thinking of naming him Seth (Egyption God of Darkness)

No coincidence. It is quite common for pure white felines with one or two blue eyes to be deaf in one or both ears. Curiously, this seems to coincide with whichever side has the blue eye(s). If the feline has two blue eyes, than the deafness is generally bi-lateral.
Thier are also instances of certain breeds of domestic canines who don't normally carry the trait (Spitz type breeds such as Finnish Spitz, Sib. Huskies, etc commonly carry this trait) displaying the same anomaly. I have seen quite a few great danes with blue eyes who were also deaf in one or both ears.
So no. I think it is safe to conclude that this is hardly a coincidence.

Peace,love and entropy,
Alex
