I hope everyone is doing well so far this year! It's been a while since I've been around so here are a few pictures I've taken since then!
Enjoy!
Some pictures of a couple of Albino Boas that belong to Exotics by Nature (friends of mine
Some Asian Vine Snakes...these guys are great - I love how they change colors and the way their eyes look!
A Tiger Retic...
And a Woma...I love these guys!
Thanks,
Celia

Hope you have a nice little hook and plenty of feeder LIZARDS! You would be amazed the size of the fangs on those little guys. I have not heard any real horror stories about Vine Envenomations, but as with anything venomous, you never know how YOUR body will react, after all, people are allergic to bees and can die. Heck, I can weed whack Poison Ivy all day long in shorts and not even get an itch, other people would swell up like a balloon!

Yes, Brian, I know, and thank you. When Morti decided he'd like to have one (I've wanted one for a while now) I made sure he understood that they were rear-fanged/mildly venomous and lizard eaters. Also informed him that they are more often than not WC and parasite ridden. I've been up close and personal with an Ahuetella prasina and find them utterly fascinating. I'm so glad to be with someone that understands and shares this passion of mine

I can relate to that
I had a few of them come in a while back (Shhhhhhh). And they lasted a couple days. They are generally very full of parasites and seem to stress out easily. After talking to a good buddy who is an importer, he said that the mortality rate on them is very high. Still VERY cool animals. After mine propmtly died, I did take the pportunity to actually take a good look at those fangs............. wow! Very impressive for a goofy looking snake

It's a lizard lure...they blend in with the greenery...slowly flap the tongue and hunt by keen eyesight, camo and luring prey in. They are the only species of snake with 3d stereo vision and the only snake that can change the shape of it's eye lens to focus. They use the grooves down their nose like you would a rifle sight...and they are very accurate because of all of this.

They will also do that if they feel threatened. With the tongue sticking out like that, their head looks more like a leaf, so they blend in with the greenery. Beccah would take her vine snake out to show me and it was great watching her stick her tongue out and leaving it out. She never tried to bite at all. I was happy for the opportunity to get some great pics of her, too...
