Hi guy's I haven't been around for a while, too busy on the powder in Maine (snowboarding not drugs ) I had a fantastic trip to America and am in the position to say that you guys are some of the friendliest people I have met, our luggage went missing and left us with no clothing to board in (or keep warm in) and everyone wanted to help, the ski school sorted us out with clothes for free and the local snowboard shop helped loads
On to the pic, this is Devin my new trinket snake, (elaphe helena). He's really friendly, no hisses or strikes and he eats like a PIG!

He/she should be under 5ft when fully grown and quite slim, much like a normal corn. He's never refused a feed and no hissing or strikes. He's good to handle but a little nervous, well he doesn't run to me when I go to pick him up I think he's perfect and with such a pretty body pattern i think it's a shame they're not more widely kept.

Just a FYI, Elaphe helena is now Colegnathus helena
Those are cool snakes, I used to have them, and am sorry I had to part with them.

What an interesting body pattern that snake has. IS it the norm for this ss to have all that patterning going on upper body and then go down to what it is like on the lower half of the body or not ?

That looks like a fairly typical one, but it does have more yellowish color in it than most that are available.
There is another ssp of this snake that has more consistent banding and has brighter colors (C.h.monticollaris)
Also, Motorherp,
can you get a photo of this snake displaying the interstitial skin pattern?
Oh, and on the length.
I would really doubt that they would ever get to close to 5ft, I had a 8 year old female that barely tipped the chart at 33".

Yup they are vertically striped/checked at the top and horizontally striped at the tail end. Looks really good, especially with the pure white, iridescent belly.
There are two types of trinket snakes an I'm not quite sure which Devin is so may be you can help:
This is a link to a pic of a normal trinket snake
Normal trinket snake
This is a link to a pic of a collared trinket snake
Collared trinket snake
or
Collared trinket snake
I'm not sure he seems to have more defined collars than the first pic but not quite as much as the second.

Errm ignorance display about to occur, what is the "interstitial skin pattern" I'll try and get some more pics tomorrow
Why have they changed the name Telefraq? Sorry about the length my grasp of feet and inches ain't great i'm a cm girl, the biggest length i've seen printed of these is 168cm (approx 5ft 6inch. Really there is very little info out there about these snakes they don't seem to be widely kept.

It looks more like the nominate trinket, and a very nice one!
the other ssp is very very rarely available in the trade,
although your in Europe, so you probably have access to many many things we cant get in the U.S.
But I still think its the helena ssp.
