Tim found this lil girl in the tracks of the hangar doors. The other guys were going to close the doors knowing it was there. So Tim brought hert to me! What do you think?

So sweet (once she's in my hands, LMAO) Otherwise she's nippy and hissy..hehehe

Well, Ben, I wish I knew more! I know the basic care for colubrids (had a green ratsnake over 10 years ago) but about these guys specifically...I'm at a loss. I know they are Pituophis and that's it! I have to do some research while I'm up tonight.....I'll post what I find out, LOL

Only thing ya really need to know about gophersnakes is there is no girth rule...that little guy can easily scarf down a small adult mouse and will probably beg for more.
They get fairly large...6 feetish or so They are pretty active, mostly at night and love to climb in branches. Because they are so active they tend to have a fast metabolism. ie: they eat...then they poop a couple of days later and they poop a lot. Usually in the water dish. Heat/humidity requirments should be easy to figure out since he was wild caught near your home. Just mimic what ya have there. I keep my gophers about like I do my boas...mid 80s warm side...high 70s cool side with a bit less humidity. Humidity doesnt seem to be anything they worry too much about one way or the other. They are hearty snakes and do well in captivity. You might want to see about panacur and flagyl dosing to kill any parisites he likely has.

Thank you soooo much Brett! I've been sitting here wondering if he could take a smallish rat pink or not. He isn't much thicker than a pencil. He (she?) has calmed down quite a bit since last night. I can reach into the enclosure now and he just sniffs, doesn't back away and doesn't hiss/strike anymore. I did put a tank top I wore in with him to help get used to my scent. He's an adorable lil booger!
