New Chameleon Enclosure *Pics*
Well a few days ago I decided to take one of the white shelves in my herp building and convert part of it into my veiled chameleon's new enclosure. I had been wanting to for awhile now, so I finally got around to doing it... and I'm pretty pleased with it; came out decent.
Bubba used to be in an opaque 50gal tote from Target and it used to sit on top of my 6ft cages.. and eventually I will be building more 6ft cages so I would have needed to find him a new place to be anyway. I also needed something that was easier to get into and clean.
I basically used whatever items I had layin' around in the basement such as the moulding for the door. I wanted to use something a little fancier than just plain boards for the door. And I also didn't feel like going to Lowe's and wandering around looking for screen with holes 1/2" inch or bigger, so I made my own. The purpose of why I needed large-holed screen is so no UV is filtered out; but small enough he can't get through.
I measured one of the shelves that would normally fit in there and made a frame for the home-made wire screen to fit in there on normal shelf brackets. Pretty simple. Took me a few hours to do the whole thing. It's simple, easy to get into and clean.

I love the naturalistic approach myself, nice enclosure Do you have a problem with crickets getting out of the large screen openings?
