Beautiful Hogg. Hoggs are one of the three snakes I really want.

Hi,
I only feed frozen, rodents this keeps that aggresion down cause they don't have to get all
ticked off to kill somethin, when its feeding day i watch her posture for signs of aggresion, if she (S) at me I just push he off the strike point with a snake hook and get her moving forward and scoup her up. she hates arm hair for some reason ( iaint got that much)and recoils when she crawls up my arm but settles down as soon as you pick her up.. The first month she was a little hissy and would strike her food and drop it to get back to that strike stance and give you I'll kill ya look.. hehehe it took a few times before she would finally slurp it down I would always leave the room for several mins so she wouldn't drop the rat pup to recoil..its was worth the work . I think its just they have so much fear. she actually watches me when I am in the room and dosent show any aggresion now .. But they are lookers when the mature can't wait for that next year to pass. Don't get one if your sacred of snakes that are hissy ,,, she don't even try to bite except on feeding day and its every man for himself.. hehe
psps she tagged me a week ago and it didn't even bleed I think her mouth was closed more like a friendly slap..the time she did bite it was like velcro no blood that time either,, hates them python bites the boys got teethes...hehe

Hi tuftxn. I wanted to address your idea that Hog's are vicious... they are not. I find them to be the opposite. The babies that I have produced are all sweeties, one or two hiss quite often, but are super docile as soon as I pick them up. I approach them when open mouth hissing using my bare hand and slowly scoop them up. Never been bitten (by these guys) yet (A BIG "knock on wood" here!) The other BCI's (non hog) don't get approached when hissing. I know they mean business, haha!
My adult male couldn't care less if you were moving around. My female targets any movement and just watches. Her eyes (or her reflex to movement) are/is phenominal. My female has only struck at me twice, both times after taking her picture with a flash. I guess she sdoesnn't like that very much But they are both very tame, and a joy (sometimes a handful!)
And I do agree with RatSickle, if you have the space, get a hog. They are fantastic animals!

Ours are incredibly nosey, amazingly strong, take ages eating their grub coz they distract very easily, enjoy hanging down to eat their rat, look at you upside down while they eat (we've got weird ones) relax on you in an aggressive manner - almost like they're overeager about everything. Ours have never struck, but they dont want you to know that. It's a bit like owning a pair of limbless James Deans.

I agree with what the other guys have said about hogs. I own 3 of them, and they are some downright cool snakes. I have never heard of a hog being vicious at all, I've handled a lot of others besides my own, and they have all been very mellow, laid-back snakes. My younger female is probably the closest to "vicious" that I have ever seen, and even that is not even close. She just has a little bit of an attitude around feeding time or stressed from trips, but otherwise she's a very laid-back snake as well. I personally think everyone should have at least one hog in their collection.
