Hello,
This Dog Toothed Cat Eyed Snake (jeez, what a name!) belongs to Dan, one of my co-workers at the East Bay Vivarium. It is another rear-fanged oddity. Ldydrgn requested pics of it so I figured I would share them with everone! Enjoy!
Thanks,
Celia

OH, Celia, THANK YOU!! Wow, he's a neat looking guy. hehehe, I can tell that is not Dan holding him, tho. He isn't that hairy Dan tells me his strike is almost in slow motion. I wonder when he'll actually take him home so I can see him in person...hmmm. Guess I'll have to call him tomorrow night (tonight?) and bug him a bit.

You're very welcome ldydragn! No, that isn't Dan holding him, that's actually Andrew who's helping me. We didn't give him a chance to show us his slow motion striking so I have no idea. Dan told me that he plans on taking the snake home as soon as he finishes treating it for parasites/worms/etc. So hopefully you'll get to see it in person soon.
While Andrew and I were handling the snake we did take a look in its mouth...it sure has some SHARP teeth and those rear-fangs aren't anything to play with either! They are BIG and BAD! We used a pen to help us take a look inside his mouth and he tore that pen up pretty good. He was really digging his rear fangs into the pen and I'm sure the stuff he was pumping into the pen would do some damage...ah the pleasures of rear-fanged snakes
