anyone know what kind of bug this is?

I've seen a few on my sunflower plants, and have no idea what they are.
They are pretty neat looking, and I dont ever see them doing anything damaging to my plants, so i've left them alone.
Anyone have any idea what this is?
I dont have any macro gear for my camera, but I got as close as I could and still sorta be in focus.

That's a Scarlet and Green Leafhopper. Very common around here.

They feed on the juices of weeds and cultivated plants. When they feed, they inject saliva into the plant which inhibits the sap from running through the veins of the leaf, resulting in wilting and leaf drop.

well, that would explain why the bottom leaves on the plant wilt and die off

but the plant gets taller.
