Hello!
Here are some pictures of my African Beaked Snake. I got her about a year ago and she has doubled in size for me since then! She is currently about 3 1/2 feet long. I wish I could find a male because I really really want to breed her! She is just beautiful and one of the nicest snakes I have ever owned! She is also rear-fanged. Let me know what you think!
Thanks for Looking.
Celia

Wow, beautiful snake! Never seen anything like that. How big do they get? How much did it set you back?

Thanks! I was told that they get about Cornsnake size so around 3 to 5 feet long. I got her from work (the East Bay Vivarium) and she was priced at $200 but I got my employee discount so it wasn't bad at all!

Thanks bensnacks! I actually don't know because she's the only one I have ever seen in person. I've seen some pictures of one in a book once and it looked pretty much like her so I'm thinking that is their typical color?? She has some very nice pinkish tones down her sides as well that don't show up in the pics

Very Nice I have not seen them in captivity before. How toxic is the venom. At first I was waiting to see a Beaked Sea Snake

She's kinda blah till ya see the cute lil face....what a doll! kinda looks like God ran outta snake heads and put a turtle head on her. LOL....very nice,,,thanks for sharing.
Brian...LOL...I'm guessing beaked sea snakes or any sea snakes for that matter would be the single worst impulse buy any herper could ever come home with. It would have to be an impulse buy too because with any thought at all.....no freakin way.....too much setup....good way to make use of an unused indoor swimming pool though I guess.

I want a job at EBV...especially if they give employee discounts!!! Very nice snake there Celia, between this specimen and your GTP's you're definitely in the cat-bird seat when it comes to new stock arriving at EBV. Keep sending those pics, despite the rantings of jealous herpers with "snake" envy!!!

Hey, Celia! Purdy snake, I love it! Could you do me a favor, tho? Next time you are at EBV with your camera, could you get a pic of Dan's Dog-toothed? He keeps talking about it but hasn't brought it home...grrrr. I wanna see!! And Dan doesn't have a camera I'd really appreciate it if you would....

Hello,
Glad you guys like my Beaked Snake! I love her...she is so great! She also has such a great personality too! When I handle her, she will wrap herself around my hand and as she moves she will use her little beak to kind of grab/hook onto my hand and pull herself up...if that makes sense...
I asked one of the owners of EBV and he told me that a Beaked Snake's venom is equivalent to that of a False Water Cobra's which can be pretty bad. It's a hematoxin and if she were to bite and latch on and chew on you for a while, you would be in quite a bit of pain and probably have lots of swelling. But she is such a sweetheart and has never shown any aggression in the past year that I have had her.
The employee discount is indeed very nice and I thoroughly ENJOY it!!
And for ldydrgn - Sure, no problem! I'll try to remember to take a picture of Dan's Dog-Toothed Snake tomorrow...I'll post it on the forum so everyone can see.
Thanks Everyone!
Celia
