I've heard suppostions about snakes changing color depending on temps, the theory being that they darken when they're colder so as to absorb more of the heat from sunlight, the opposite for when they're warm.
I dont know for sure, but it seems like solid reasoning to me....at least as much so as the goose bumps theories I've heard for humans

I think the Reverend got it. My BCI will be different colors depending on where she is in her enclosure. In the cooler side she is much darker than when she is on the warmer side. The most obvious place on her body where the change can be seen is the stripe down the top of her head.
