Here she is again, at just about 1 year old -- not sure of exact DOB, but sometime this month will be her birthday -- she's now just under 5 feet long and wonderfully healthy and tame.
Her true colaration doesnt come through too well here...she's very light, with alot of pink...

Very pretty girl. Is it just the newbie in me or is she kind of big for one year?

She definately is big for her age...she has astounded me with her growth to say the least.
I am not sure what the average size for her age is...I've seen 2 year olds her size and smaller, but I do know that my babys mama was a monster...
To put her growth rate into perspective -- in February she was 39 inches long, she is now approx 55 inches...maybe saying "just under 5 feet" sounded too big
BTW I just found a TON of pics I forgot about on my hard drive that show her in, on and around her cage that I never posted anywhere so I am going to make an album and put it up somewhere so you guys can see it if you like.
I also found some great pics of my Snow Corn, who's about 3 months old and growing like a weed.

boaguy -- you might be able to tell that she fed recently in some of the pics -- she eats 2 large rats every 10-14 days.
She'd eat more if I let her. Her feeding response is WILD to say the least.
I have been struck at more times than I'd like.
Never been tagged tho...I guess I'm in the "So far the hand is quicker than the snake" club, eh??
I have to let her sit alone in her tub for HOURS after her two rats to let her calm down.

2 Large Rats!! In my opinion that's a bit much. A large medium or a small large every 7 days should be enough. she hasn't quite reached adulthood so her metabolism is still pretty fast. Maybe someone here can offer different advice.

I've got 2 Peruvians who are going on 9 months and they are 4' long. I thought they were big. Nice snake you have there.
How about some pics of your cage, from the little I can see it looks very nice. I'm looking for ideas.
I could be wrong but 2 large rats does seem a bit much, my peruvians eat one weaned once a week, I'm going to move them up to a small shortly.

I would have to agree with SP on this. Although it depends on where you get your "large" rats and what you consider "large". Rodentpro's large rats are gigantic! If you are feeding her that size, that is too much.
I thought that my boas were big when they were a year old and about 3 ft long! LOL...guess I was wrong! I love watching them grow up though. The bigger they get the more I like them!
Thanks for sharing the pics!

By "large" I definately dont mean "jumbo" -- perhaps its just semantics...or the sign at the store where I get them...
I dont worry too much about "large" "medium" etc...I follow the "girth" rule. The "larges" she eats are picked by me to make sure they are the right size. Maybe by some one elses definition they would be mediums...is there a "standard" for defining rat size??
The store calls 'em large, but like I said I pick 'em out based on size, not just the label on the cage.
and yes I kill them. (before anyon asks.)
She probably would eat one of them each week, but since she started eating two mediums (again, picked by me for proper size, but whats in a name?) at about 7 or 8 months (when she was 4 feet) we went to 10-14 days because of the extra time needed to digest.
If the consensus is one a week, I'll go with that -- but when do I go to 10-14 days??
Also should I mess with success??
ALL ADVICE IS WELCOME!! THANKS!!!!
I am glad to hear some other snakes are big as her at her age -- maybe its more normal than we thought...

Oh and Relayer -- I have some great pics of her and her cage -- I'll get them up somewhere so you can see them before the end of this week, because after that I'll be offline for awhile -- I'm having back surgery and I wont be able to sit here for awhile...
I'll post a link in this forum to a collection of pics of cages, snakes (BP, Snow Corn, normal corn, and Boas), etc.

Ok, Chica is now 1 year, 3 months and she is about that size as well. She had been feeding 1 "large" every 7 days, but recently seemed hungry by thursday. She just had a few weeks ago a "large" and a "medium" one right after the other. She then went 10 days before she looked ready to go again.
I am considering moving to Jumbo to stay in the 7 day plan.
I will measure her tonite and try to get new pictures up. Wino, your baby and mine look very similar.
BTW, I went to check the rodentpro site and they seem to have a good scale for medium, large, jumbo, etc, which could help us identify better what we are feeding them. I think it would actually be more accurate to measure the rats BY WEIGHT, since size (length) which is what they use can be very deceiving...
P.S. : I checked and they use weight as well. Look here : http://www.rodentpro.com/prod_rats.asp
