Ok here is HerpinHippie's burmese python trying to eat a towel.
The story goes like this.
We were feeding all of the snakes, and upon checking up I noticed that the burm was eating a towel! So grab here and almost 45 min's later get the thing out. Its very hard to get a towel out of a strong female burm. She wasn't very happy with us....but she still loves us.

This is when I noticed her eating the towel

Taking her out and trying to arrange everything

We had to cut the towel to make things easier

Finally we got the towel out and she was not happy

Do snakes often take a fancy to towels That one looked like she was really enjoying herself, lol. My lizard licks everything but he's never tried to ingest part of my furnishings

haha Shane. lmao..better you than me.. Like Shad said..I have already been down that road with a BCI. Where was the towel exactly anyway that the burm got her jaws into it ? Is this another one of the towel as substrate things ? Did you give the snake a both after feeding it or what ? We do that now after every feeding. Think the rodent smell got on the towel from the snake's body when it hapened to us and that's why she went and ate the towel on us.. [ or him actually..we have sinced found out that the bci is actually a male ]

Nothing wrong with a burm trying to take a nice bath and clean himself up. That's pretty odd to me.

This must be something that happnes pretty regular b/c someone was telling me about this post and I said I had seen that on a tv show on animal planet. Then they told me this actually happened to Shane! LOL I think the show I saw it on was one of the emergency vet shows. I always check that channel through out the day and happened to run past that show while they were working on a (if I remember correctly) a burm in this instance too. Maybe I dreamed the whole thing
I can see where they would get mixed up if it smelled like rat...but like everyone said it sure couldn't be tasty.
Those are great shots Shane! Thanks for sharing!

HI FOrum,
Hey maybe the Burm was trying to floss some of them pesky rat hairs out of his teeth, you know how pesky they can be..
Proably was just in the mood to eat something and once it starts down the throat jeeze..
Hope this dosen't happen again,
I saw on animal channel where a rather large Iguana had an appetite for the owners change he manged to eat about 1.50 in change .. The nickles and the pennies were not doing well in his stomach it required surgery.. And now the owner dosen't allow the Iguana access to his house unsupervised. GO figure why would a lizard eat change the salt from your hand's or maybe the metal tasted great.. I ve heard of animals eating strange things when the are slightly vitamin defficient...

Is it just me or are her eyes clouded? Maybe she had bad judgement and figured it was a deformed rat.
Jessy!
