There are far too many pics to post, so just check my album (it's on page 7)
Lots of Crotalus pics, some are mislabeled. Some mammals as well. Enjoy.
Jay link to album

Nothing against em' but you should go to Riverbanks in SC. Much more diverse collection of herpetofauna IMO. Obviously i am no fun when i go to zoo myself, i'm always cringing when someone taps on the glass , the lil' voice in my head goes "they just don't know alex...calm down...deep breaths, deep breaths....ahhhhh....isn't that better..ooo look a green tree monitor!"
Maybe i'll go check out some of the aquariums on the coast? Or the one nature museum outside ashville?

Yeah, I've been to Riverbanks before, but most of their exhibits were closed. I plan to go back b/c they DO have much better herps and displayed much better. It was also a trip for the family, not just me. They like the #$%^$%^$%^$%^& mammals for some reason
#$%^$%^$%^$%^&, I tell people not to tap on the glass, I corrected people calling tortoises turtles, I don't miss a chance to educate, even if people don't want to be educated. Maybe if I #$%^$%^$%^$%^& them off, they'll remember what I said.

The nature center in Asheville isn't a whole lot to see, but I enjoyed it. They have native only animals, but they have some very good displays, espically for the red wolf. Their herps are few, but well caged and treated.
And they gave me two free Northern Water snake hatchling

A friend of mine whose going through a wildlife/environmental education program (likely to be gutted now that the tax surplus is down the drain) was at the nature mu. in ashville and he said that they recently got an african viper (i assume a gaboon givin the description) from some boy, yes boy, i can't remember what age but it was way under 18.... Anyhow maybe he meant another place...is their a zoo in ashville?
At river banks they've got a 1.1 pair of african twigsnakes that were gettin' their groove on last time i was there, and i was showin it to a bunch a folks(mainly kids) who just couldn't get enough. The dirty voyeurs.

If you ever get a chance, I would check out the St. Louis zoo. I got the chance to check it out while visiting my girlfriend's family. Their herp exhibit is awesome.

WNC Nature center
that's the only zoo like place I know of in Asheville, but then I get to Asheville about once every 6 months or so.

They (Riverbanks Zoo) were listed as a reference (Scott Pfaff) for the reptiles article on fea's in Feb 2002.
Whether they are on display is entirely another question, but the prime motivation in my next trip to Riverbanks. The only other continental zoo I know that has them is DFW zoo.
I'm going so far as to call them and see if I can get "behind the scenes" and take some animal pics
