I thought about it and thought about it, and finally went back. I waited until the last minute, too - to see if it was meant to be. It must have been, I now have an albino, het for petternless female burm. She may (or may not) be bred to my patternless male. I don't know if I will breed the big guys, but at least now if I do, I will have something maybe a little less 'disposable' than the poor normals have proven to be. I won't know if I will breed, it all depends on how many people actually want a baby. If I don't get requests from just the right folks, all my burms will die as virgins instead of just half of them
Well, here she is:
Anastasia's album
oh, BTW, she's a Bob Clark girl

I adore my normals, but I don't want to contribute to the growing number of normals in rescues. The greens and albino greens might have a better chance of finding and keeping good homes, although I want to make sure they do before I consider comitting to breeding them. As of right now, I am just happy to have them, I think of them as family members, not money machines. So, if they die virgins in 25 years, oh well, at least I know my four burms and two retics are happy and well loved.

Sweet looking burmmy!
As for breeding, well, that's up to you!
But you may want to check out Genetics 101.

She's definately a pretty girl. And your right albino and paternless cost more money, so when people have to shell out a desent amount of money for them they think about it before buying. Not like a $20.00 normal. Yes I like my normal too.

Actually, from what I have seen with dogs, even the $1000 show dogs get neglected, abused, and abandoned as well. Americans are too fickle and too used to having every thing considered disposable. From diapers to clothing, to pets and sadly, to family. I have found that Americans will purchase something (live or inanimate objects ie cars, etc) as a status symbol. As they get bored with the everyday cleaning, maintainence whatever, or decide to move, they just 'get rid of' the animal, grandparents or anything else standing in their way. I can understand emergency type situations, but if you truly love your pets, you will either take them with you (as I always have and will do) or place them with someone who can love them and care for them. Unfortunatly, that takes way too much effort for most of us anymore ('us' does not mean rtb members). When we were transfered to Hawaii years ago and the gov't refused to pay shipping and quarantine for our dog (4 months quarantine), we did it ourselves. We took a 10 year old mix breed, paid a small fortune in quarantine costs and visited him every day for 4 whole months. All our friends had told us to put him down as he was too old to do that for. Needless to say, Scamp moved back to Dallas four years later and lived until we finally had no choice but to help him go to the Rainbow Bridge at 16 years of age. I think I learned an awful lot about love and responsibility from that one experience alone.
I do not want to add to the burm overpopulation problem. It scares me to breed them. Just lke I will not breed my $850 Aussie again. There are too many animals needing and deserving homes. I feel guilty making more pets. I am thrilled I have found homes like SP's and several others. No, I sold them for far less than what othershow breeders do, but, the pics of Jesse's puppies makes it all worth while. If I knew I could sell them all to people like the members here, I would do it in a heartbeat. I have someone who said he will buy all the retics, burms, and boas I can produce for resale in a pet shop. I refuse to do that. I have seen him sell retics to 16 yr old kids telling them that they are easy to keep and care for. ARGH!
Anyway, enough rambling, I know I am preaching to the choir here, but I feel very strongly about it. I am ashamed of Americans' throw away society attitude.

She's a cutie!!! Good luck! I once saw a guy try ta sell a young boy an African Rock Python! He told him it was the nicest one he seen and never has tried to bite. He also said they only grow to about 3 to 6 feet. All ya need is a 20 gallon tank all it's life. I straight up told the kid you are better off going somewhere else. This guy has told you nothin but lies. I understand petstores trying to make a buck, but things like this is ridiculous!

That came out sounding kinda harsh...but I didn't mean it that way. Just wanted to let them know if they had not noticed (which I am guilty of ALL the time).
