Vegas Pics (Dial Up Warning)
Here are just a few of the pics i took on vacation. I would have had many more, but i was usually driving, and there were many INCREDIBLE sites along the way. Vegas is allot more than just Sin City. Each day during the day the wife and I went on an adventure exploring different things, then at night stayed in Las Vegas and checked out te Hotels and casinos. Flew in Wednesday night went to bed around 1:00 AM Vegas time after being up since 6:00 AM Chicago time.Thursday morning woke up on our own at 3:30 AM (couldnt sleep) Left at 5:Am for the North rim of the Grand Canyon. Got back in Vegas by 7 PM. Friday we checked out a ghost town about 30-40 minuts outside of Vegas, that was ok, then further down that road we went to El Dorado Canyon, which was very cool, Saturday went herpin with SteveP then drove to the Hoover Dam, then flew home today(Sunday). Was a VERY busy trip, we never went to bed before 1Am and always got up at 6AM the latest.

Road to El Dorado Canyon

Road through the Mojave Nature Preserve

Steve with the find of the day a Horned Lizard

While herping we saw tons of lizards, mostly whiptails and geckos, a couple collard lizards. Unfortunately No snakes. I can't even say I seen ANY D.O.R which of course is a good thing. But was kind of odd, since the day we went the temps were in the low 80s and it had just been raining. and over cast. But the rest of the time it was right at 100 with 50%humidity which is really high for Vegas.

HUH? The strip isn't indoors. It is huge though its 4 miles long. Most of the activities are indoors though.

Cool Ed! One of these days I'm going to get back out there and do some exploring. Last time I was with my parents and we pretty much stayed on the strip. Isn't it neat out there? Everything's so BIG! We found ourselves thinking, "oh, lets walk to the Luxor, we can see it from here so it must not be far!" Yeah, right!

Big is an understatement there. Some of the hotels you literally could get lost in and maybe never find your way out. Actually some of the really big hotels were a turn off for e because they were so confusing to get out of. We were in Ceasars and I actually had to ask where the door was. Would hate to see if there was ever a fire (god forbid) My favorites were actually the old classic hotels. Tropicana was probably my favorite. The Riviera was cool, they still had the girls walking around with the gum and cigarette trays. Some of the new hotels hint they have a theme and put a couple nick nacks in to make it look like it, but some of the others went ALL out with the theme and was REALLY Cool.
Gambling and I really didnt get along to well. So i didnt gamble a whole lot. I set a limit for myself of $100 a night, but i only got close to that one night. The Blackjack tables were a vaccum for my money real quick, couldn't tell you how many times i got delt 14 and 15 in a row. Then I just kinda did the nickle slots, hit them a couple times for 20-30.00 nothing special. Wife won about 200. all weekend on the nickle slots.
The terrain of the area is incredible. Yes Ben those are Joshua trees We did get to go to Hoover Dam and Lake Meade, it was pretty cool, not my favorite though. The trip to the Grand Canyon was just Awesome. It was almost a 4 hour ride, and every mile was incredibly exciting, the views you see along the way are beyond belief. Even when you actually see them you kinda wonder if it was actually real.
