gone herpin' (supreme dial-up warning)

Anacondaman and I were itching to try out my new camera so we decided to go herping. Now, there aren't many herping spots in NYC, but we managed to find one. It was the Long Isalnd Reptile Museum. Saw many large monitors and tegus. As we hunted through the corridors and hallways, we sighted a 16 ft retic and a couple of anacondas. We spotted a gila monster in a log but could not get a pic of it. We managed to find a very large tortoise loping around in what appeared to be an enclosure. We found a large amount of venemous snakes. We didn't dare touch them. Anacondaman managed to capture an adult gopher snake in the petting zoo. We sighted a green mamba and a pygmy rattlesnake. The highlight of the day, however, was a 9 ft king cobra that did not seem to like Anacondaman very much at all. How's that for a single day's herping trip? Here are some pics of the finds taken with my new camera (I'm still getting used to it.) I have no idea why these pictures came out so big...... I used photobucket to store them and it automatically made them huge.

Gecko-Guy and I were curious about the white dots along the retics body. The other one in the enclosure didn't have the same white-dot pattern.

How did you get the king to pop a wheelie?
The two I occasionally work with use to hood after the first flash, now they could care less about the flash.

Well John at the moment the King was being moved from its enclosure. So we were able to catch a pic of it at its prime.
