Finally got her!!!
She's even sweeter than she is pretty. Not a snake, I know but she's still a great addition to the zoo here

hehehe thanx...yah like eddie said, Blue Headed Pionus. Pie on us. not pronounced like pee on us or that male organ thing. LOL...She is a smaller close relative of amazon parrots...I got her from a neighbor of BWSmith who kept her 20 years and just finally got to where they couldn't keep taking care of her anymore. She was like part of their family...and seemed really reluctant to let her go.

She is loveable and seems well adapted...I showed her around the house. Her wings have never been clipped and never will be as part of the adoption agreement. She can open her own cage to get out unless secured by a secondary lock but really doesn't abuse this privledge. She likes to hang out with the humans and when she gets tired of us, she flies herself back to her cage. She has made herself at home here and seems happy with her new pad. Thanx for the compliments....
Fir anyone in the market for a bird...There are different types of Pionus. Blueheadeds are the most colorful though. They are smaller and less messy than the Amazons and far less noisy. What little bit of noise they do make is very soft and pleasant. They aren't destructive to wood fixtures like other parrots are. After 20 years of gnawing on the former owners kitchen cabinets, any damage can easily be fixed with some varnish or Murphy's Oil soap. They are the dream come true for bird lovers who hate the noise and splintered door ways but love an affectionate, easy to care for feathered companion.

She's a beauty. She sounds like just what I may be looking for. I have wanted a macaw for years, but I really can't stand noise (why I love my snakes, they are so quiet ). If she is that quiet and not too distructive, she makes Pionus sound perfect. Heaven knows my cockatiels and quaker drove me nuts.

Man, I am just too lazy to keep birds. They're beautiful to look at and can be to interact with, espically if they're talkers, but it's the possibility of them developing psychological problems that makes me shy away. Oh, and the noise. All you need now is a mammal

LOL...funny you should mention Esmerelda. One of the first places she decided to check out was the top of Esmerelda's cage. But...Esmerelda sleeps all day and plays all night. And she has a belly full of rat right now so she didn't even flick her tounge at Posha.
J...I have plenty of mammals here. I have alot more by far in fact than I do reptiles. But they are all living in my freezer.

Or all of the above.... I can see a pattern forming here...this has turned out to be her favorite roost.
