Black Racer (Coluber constrictor constrictor)

The snakes in the pics were caught while flipping over some sheets of tin around an abandoned building outside Raeford, NC. We were trying to bag the first snake when the second one came out of hiding and proceeded to wrap itself around my leg

Sorry for the lousy pictures shortly after we caught these two racers the sky opened up and we got drenched. So went to the garage and got the best pics we could before letting them go.

are they as prolific in VA as they are in FL and GA? I know I have never seen so many racers anywhere as I did in FL. They were almost as common as the mosquitoes...LOL

We were only out for about an hour and a half and came across three racers in the
first fifteen minutes so I would venture to say that they are pretty polific there in NC.
I havent had the time to get out and about around VA much so I couldnt tell you about around here.
