Using flash on snakes

Just wondering if using flash photography is bad for snakes.

It seems like it might be bad for albinos, but I really have no clue.

Re: Using flash on snakes

I don't think so. I use flash on my albino and he's still okay.

Re: Using flash on snakes

I dont know using flash is bad or not, but if you change up you camera ISO to 800+ then you dont need to use the flash

Re: Using flash on snakes

just a thought, but would distance from the snake matter. now im not a photographer, but flashes used to pop pritty hot aswell as the obvious brightness. would this not hurt the snakes eyes if it was to close, a suddon flash of heat, maybes sorta like sunspots ? if there is a "to close" what sort of distance would it be ?

Re: Using flash on snakes

When Tiz was eating today I took a few to send to the fam and was within a foot with the flash on and she went right ahead chowing down. In fact she would probably eat in the middle of a hurricane. Plus she took it while hanging from my finger and me wiggling it around w/ some forceps (f/t of course).

Obligatory pics:

Is it me or is it when the get to the tail it's like they're slurping down a piece of spaghetti?

Re: Using flash on snakes

I know at shows here some of the ppl asking you not to use a flash on the hots but that is mearly because it can p them off and make them even more agro. which makes it very difficult for the owner to handle if needs be. But then that is only some of them some other didn't mind. One of the big yearly shows here in JHB is held at a motorrace track and during the day there are motorbikes on the track. Trust me the fibration from then comeing by at high speed ( the hall is just above the pit lane) Agro's the snake much more than any flash ever will..
