Julius and other photo dorks
I think I may put a digital slr on the registry. I am trying to decide between the Nikkon D40 and D50.
I would love to go higher end, but don't think I will get it even if everyone pitches in. This maybe my only chance to get something I want. I could care less about all the plates, silverware, dishes etc that we are registering for
So tell me photo gods, which do you think would be best?

I've never seen a D40 yet so I really can't say. You might also consider a good used D70. You can get them for the same or even less than a new D50.

Everything that I have read about the d40 says that it is actually an upgrade in a lot of ways from the d50. Neither of them are as good as a d70, but I have been researching this myself and I may get a d40 as well if the Boa Breeding Gods are nice to me this year.  |
