New camera problems
I just recently bought a Kodak Z612 KODAK EASYSHARE Z612 Zoom Digital Camera Specifications and I put a small memory card in and did the formatting through the camera all was well until I took 20 or so pics and the next time I turned it on It said I needed to format the card and I lost all my pics so I decided I would buy a new card 1gig and formatted it again and the same thing happened I lost all my pics anyways Is there any thing I am doing wrong or is the camera malfunctioning?? Anyone ever have this problem.

Sounds like a camera issue to me. Should I mention that I've never seen this happen with a Nikon? naaa that would make me sound too biased...but I haven't

The only other thing it could be is a card issue but you pretty much ruled that one out with a new card. Did you format and then shoot or did you shoot on new cards that weren't formatted? I have actually had a camera allow me to shoot on an unformatted card and download the photos but when I tried to shoot again, it told me the card was unformatted. That was on my Fuji S1. That camera also won't read a card over 1 gig...bummer. I had to buy six 1 gig cards for it to have enough space to make it worth carrying lol...since I shoot it in Tiff mode and make 20 something meg files.

I think I found the problem When I was formatting the card I thought it froze up and If I remember right I removed the card which can damage the card so it says in the manual I will try a new one and if it doesn’t fix the problem then it will have to go back/repair or whatever.

Re: New camera problems
when you format a card, you delete everything off of it, making it a blank slate essentially. Its how you should delete everything off of your card so that you dont damage it and it lasts longer. So, when you have all of these pictures, and you click to "format" it, you are deleting all of them. Any camera brand is going to do the exact same thing when you "format" a card, itll delete everything off of it.
