Snake Photography
I'm a shutterbug! I like taking pics and searching out good photography on the Net. Some of my favorite photos are ones where snakes are the subject. I like close ups and pics that "fill the screen" with the body and head of the snake. Quite a few of the wallpaper images I use on my PCs are from Webshots.com. Others have been found around the Net -- and RTB, too.
I'm curious -- Do YOU use snake photos for your wallpaper/screensaver? If so, where do you get your pics? {Your own photos; Webshots; Flickr; other websites, etc}
Also, what kind of camera do you use when you take pics of your pets? We use a Nikon CoolPix 5700 and a Panasonic Lumix for most of our photos. The Lumix is the primary digi cam right now because Nikon is repairing my E5700 gratis (defective sensor).
THANKS for replying!

You are talking about macro pics (close ups)
I use a Cannon Rebel XT, and love it to death

I also take a ton of photos. As a matter of fact, I just uploaded another 15 to my site. Virtually all are herps with a few other wildlife photos, educational programs, etc. peppered in. I rarely use anyone elses photos as my online album on my site is about to break 600 photos. That is not counting whatever is hosted on RTB and my private albums that are just the ones that don't really have to do directly with my site.
Since I am certainly not a professional, I went for a camera that fit my needs, long range and extreme closeup. I just got a Konica Dimage z6. It has a ncie 12x optical zoom (never turn digital on) and a whopping .4" SuperMacro. I am very pleased with it.

I'm currently using a Pentax S5i that is alright for the snaps I am generally taking, and it is small so is easy to carry in my Camelback on my mountain bike, I am planning on getting a Nikon D50 to take some more serious photo's in the future as Dad already has a D70 I can use his lenses (much cheaper than buying my own).
The S5i is not bad for close ups though, not sure if we're meant to be attaching images on this one but here's a reduced size image from my S5i.
Cheers
Nick

Are your pictures out of focus? if that is the case then you are trying to focus closer than your camera can focus. See if your camera has macro mode, which could be denoted by a small flower graphic. This will allow you to focus closer.
I use Nikon cameras, coolpix 3200, N80, F100 and D70s, and a large collection of lenses, I take a lot of pictures, just last month I took more than 5000, but I haven't taken any pictures of my snakes or spiders in more than a year.
this are 2 of the last pictures I took of my pets, I used the point and shoot for this ones.
You can see more of my photos here, http://www.myspace.com/rene_garcia_photography
CharlieJ, so you like good photos of snakes, check this ones out, http://www.mocafico.com/snakes.html

Rene ==> EXCELLENT pics. THANKS for the links, too! You are very blessed to have access to a Nikon D70 with multiple lenses. I am hoping to purchase a "hand me down" D70 from a pro photographer friend of mine soon.
Jimi ==> If your camera has the flower, it has macro ability. You may need to partially zoom in order for the macro function to work properly, though. If you zoom all the way in, you'll likely loose the macro function (even if it's turn on). What kind of camera do you have? I may be able to provide more specific information.

I use a Nikon D100...most everything I do with snakes I use a 28-105 macro zoom. I like to make wall papers and either leave a dark blank spot to the left side or I make a textured box for desk top icons. I uploaded a few to herpworlds download section. Jim set up desktop downloads in all the most common resolutions. Several people have contributed. Here is the link http://www.herpkingdom.com/index.php...on_view&idev=4
