What do you people use for cameras???

I am looking into a quality digital camera that takes good close up photos that is priced around $200 give or take a little. We had a nice nicon but my sister dropped in only weeks afterwe got it and they said it would cost over 100 to fix it so we just kept it anyway. Just looking for now but maybe for Christmas!!!

i have a cannon a95, which retails about 275 us. its a good camera, 5 mega pixels, it makes exellent 8x10s, rates high as far as a point and shoot goes, however, for macro shots, on things the size of a quarter [hatchling crested geckos] i hate dealing with an auto focus. so, im looking to upgrade to the cannon digital rebel xt with a 50mm macro lense, which retails... for much more, and totally out of my price range. the a95, you can play with alot of the options, and it has a fair ammount of "manual" settings, but on moving very small objects, it just falls short for my needs. however, i have taken alot of good pictures with it.

I use a Sony Cybershot DSC-P100. It is a nice little digital with 5 MP and a nice macro setting. I bought it for $300. Here are a few pictures I've taken.

Well Digital is the way to go I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-H1 excelent camera this one I'm able to change lens and use filters etc but cost me for the camera $400.00 the extra lens etc about another aprox 400.00 and the 1 GB Memory Stick 100.00 but found a place cheaper for the memory sticks so I'm planning to order maybe another1GB and a 2GB this coming up week

try checking out consomer reports

www.consumerreports.org

A lot of great info on just about everything you do have to sign up for it but does not cost much it's well worth it and saves you money in the long run instead of purchasing junk

Thanks for the oppinions. Maybe I will look into that but is seems poinless since I will only use it a few times. I will look into the cannon a95 since it seems to be what I am looking for. Something that can take decent pictures that show detail and colors without, yet basic enough where I don't need to get a motion activated alarm to protect it while I sleep. lol Thanks in advance and keep those oppinions comming!!!

What do you guys think of this???

ANy experiences or comments on it? Looks like it would be worth the money. 10x zoom would be awesome!!!

I may just go to Nebraska Furniture mart and try some out to get an Idea. I will not buy from them since the sales people breath down your neck making it a horrible experience but I guess I can test and get ideas.

I just bought my son an olympus FE100 from bestbuy for 149.00 I haven't tested it yet though so I have no idea if it's any good. It makes movie clips, and it has both digital and optical 4x zoom. very important feature! I think it's 4.1 mpx

I use a nikon d100 setup that cost roughly 3 times as much as my Jeep. It's a pretty old jeep but still! I think my memory card cost over 300 lol...It's nice but a bit bulky and pricey for snapshots.

Ditto!

Before the wife got the D100 I used a Kodak EasyShare CX4310, its a 3.2MP but still took really good images.
