Other than rodentpro
Rodent pro has decent prices, and great sizes always as advertised. But Whenever I order from them I get these cracked, torn (from the dry ice) ziplock bags of semi-"dirty" rats that have just been tossed in there. I have no idea how rodentpro kills their rats, And I'm not accusing them of this, but it sure looks like they put the live rats in a ziplock and freeze them. Very inhumane. I've been ordering from bayourodents, very clean vaccum packed rats, always on time shipping. OK prices, but the rats are just smaller. I.E. a bayou rat med is like a rodentpro large. So how about it? Who vaccum packs good size C02 killed rodents, and ships them on time?

I think the Big Cheese rodent factory/company?? vaccuum seals their orders, but if i recall correctly, the pics on their site show a lot of rats all sealed into one bag.
Which means you have to rebag them or reseal the ones you don't use at the time..

Yeah, resealing the unused isn't a problem, the unused usually get used within a few days. Bayou does the same depending on what you mean by a lot in a pack. Bayou does 6-15 per pack depending on size.
Edited to say.... I just took a look at Big cheese, I remember coming across that site at one pont. It does look like quite a few per bag. I'm going to e-mail and ask how many in a bag.....

I have been using : http://www.frozenrodent.com/ for the last 10 years and have been more than happy with their service and quality.
Their prices are about average, but they CO2 kill the rodents, and they are usually clean with no dookie stains, or other things.
I have never had them ship to me, since I get them delievered, but im sure shipping is similar to just about anyone else.

All the rodentpro orders we have received have come in excellent condition. We have gotten some bags that break easily, but they say the cO2 can effect the bags in some way making them weaker. Last time Morti and Ldy picked them up from Rodentpro for us, they gave us extra bags to take care of that problem.

I have been using Rodentpro and have never had two minor problems...
One is the bags, but when I called to ask about that they said that they are working on an alternate source for a bag that will not crack when stored on the dry ice.
The other problem and I dont know that this is a rodentpro problem or something I am doing, but they tend to bleed a lot from the nose as they thaw out.
The snakes dont seem to mind the blood and the bags are no problem I re-bag anyways.

Well....what you guys think about mice direct? I'm new to this frozen mice ordering stuff.
I just got my first delivery from them. I thought the prices were great (compared to some I've priced) ....pinkies .18 @ 100 = $18, peach fuzzies .21 @ 100 = $21, fuzzies .22 @ 100 = $22, hoppers .32 @ 100 =$32, weanlings .39 @ 50 = 19.50 and adults .45 @ 50 = $22.50. They also offer discounts when ordering 500 or more. They said they use CO2 and flash freeze. But how can you really tell?
Place your order by sunday, midnite & they ship on mondays & I had my order this morning (wednesday). The dry ice did crack one bag.

Yes, the dry ice cracks the bags, RodentPro is well aware of this... also they do kill the rats by gassing them, then once dead they are bagged and frozen. They are in funky positions because they are not bagged slowly. For us, this isn't an issue. They get thawed out and it is easy enough to straighten the out before feeding. I just wanted to clarify that point.

No, I think I am the only one that doesn't like them. But I can't figure out why! In my opinion, If I can get a better product for close to the same price I am going with that product. The biggest factor in all this is vaccum packing. I do large orders, and I don't like the rats just being in bags for that long. It is a lot easier to put away 20-30 packs of rats that have been vaccum sealed on trays than it is to put away 20-30 bags of rats. Bags take up a lot more room, and are harder to organize. The main problem is vaccum sealing, and also a lot of times I will pull out rats from a rodentpro bag and find them just sort of... dirty. I'm NOT saying that ALL rodentpro rats are always filthy rats not worthy of being fed to snakes, and they are a bad company, that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that for as much credit as people give the company, I guess I expect a lot more. And I know for a fact that there are companies out there doing a better job. I'm sure some rodentpro users have tried other companies, but I'm not sure how many. I think if most rodentpro users tried other companies, they would not go back to rodentpro.

I used to use Cajun Mice (which is the same people as Bayou Rodents) for years, but I felt they were jacking me on the shipping costs. I'd order in the range of 100lbs at a time, and end up paying a good 70 bucks shipping via Fedex 2 day - when I think there are cheaper, just as effective, alternative shipping methods. So I went over to Big Cheese Rodent Factory. They go to all the shows in Texas, so I can pick up orders at the shows for no shipping cost, or when they do ship to me it only costs me like 20 bucks via Greyhound. The rodents are of equivalent quality, vacuum sealed and packaged adequately so that I don't have to reseal stuff all the time. Only reason I would use Rodentpro is if I was in a pinch, I prefer my rodents to be sealed, look neatly arranged and clean.
